Parkview is threatened with closure/replacment by an academy. Pupils struck there this week.
According to a parent:
"It honestly brought tears to the eyes. I am so proud of the young people at that school.
They were threatened by Moira Swann and then basically stuck two fingers up to her and walked out anyway!
Brilliant.
Firstly this happened
The Director of Children's Services has just met with Y10 pupils and told them that if the protest goes ahead the county council will immediately suspend all the senior staff and take over the running of the school.
Then the head Mr Rob Swales told the kids that it wasn't going to go ahead then a single Year 10 girl stood up and said yes it was and then a second, and third and then the kids all filed out of the school onto the playing fields.
It nearly brought me to tears and there isn't much that can make that happen after 48 years on the planet.
The school staff were threatened with suspension if the protest went ahead but they did join in by coming out onto the car park and applauding the kids.
The children are determined to go on strike tomorrow. As there are Year 11 exams going on all the other year groups are planning to go to registration and then go and sit quietly in the sports hall until the end of the school day. This isn't an action being led by parents or any other adults this is the kids themselves who are pissed off with not being listened to. All power to them."
Try to find out what happened at Thorncliffe as it seems their pupils were threatened with exclusion if they took part and the current head & his deputy both have jobs sorted in the Academy.
