Save Our Schools

These are the documents submitted to the DCSF by Harris/Oasis and Croydon Council.
They can be downloaded by Googling "Academy Expressions of Interest" and then searching for "Ashburton" or "Harris Academy Purley". Some key points are below:

At the Ashburton Junior meeting this evening, Steve Chalke contradicted me, suggesting that I was either lying or mistaken.  I claimed that the only 2 Oasis Academies which have had GCSE results show a drop.  He claimed that this was not true and that one of them showed one of the biggest improvements (I think that was what he claimed).  I promised parents at the Ashburton Community School that I would not waste their time but post the web links to support the Croydon SOS claims.  Dave Hill, Cllr Pollard and Steve Chalke have insisted that the results which matter are 5 A*-C including English and Maths.

We have very little to go on because we have comparative results for only 2 Oasis academies. However, together with the reports from Oasis Mayfield, the results we do have don't give us much comfort. Admittedly the predecessor schools' results were not brilliant, but in both Oasis Immingham and Oasis Wintringham the results last year went down after Oasis took over.
